“I’m going to the stars and then past them.“………What about you? Do you maintain this mindset? If I am being honest, I can sometimes view “success” (aka: achieving a goal) as a destination. If I am not getting there fast enough, I just change the destination. Or worse, I sometimes give up on a goal altogether.
With that said, I work on this constantly. Progress, not perfection, right? I am proud to say, I am getting better at “sticking it out” (a little longer) when the road gets tough. And slowly but surely, I am learning that each time I do (stick it out) I come out on the other side a better human. Not because I always reach the intended goal. I am a better human because of the experience in spite of the outcome. What about you?
You see, at the risk of sounding cliche, life is a journey, NOT a destination. Success is never final but a stepping stone to greater things. Similarly, failure is never “fatal” but a chance to learn and grow and become a better human.
There is so much in life that is outside of our control. The one thing we can control is our perspective. How we perceive our journey through life. Does life happen to you or for you?
The more I choose to see that life happens “for me” (and not “to me”), the better I get at the most important point in Connor Mcgregor’s quote……”just keep going”.
Having the right perspective about our circumstances is the catalyst for action. Knowing that this too shall pass. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon the journey will lead you down another road. When that time comes, you will be even MORE equipped to do even greater things. Just. Keep. Going.
